چکیده

Non-local methods for image denoising and inpainting have gained considerable attention in recent years. This is due to their superior performance in textured images, a known weakness of purely local methods. Local methods on the other hand have shown to be very appropriate for the recovering of geometric structure such as image edges. The synthesis of both types of methods is a trend in current research. Variational analysis in particular is an appropriate tool for a unified treatment of local and non-local methods. We discuss a general variational framework for the problem of non-local image inpainting, from which some previous inpainting schemes can be derived, in addition to leading to novel ones. We give an statistical mechanics interpretation of the proposed framework and discuss some open mathematical questions.

Improving Exemplar-based Image Completion methods using Selecting the Optimal Patch

Image completion is one of the subjects in image and video processing which deals with restoration of and filling in damaged regions of images using correct regions. Exemplar-based image completion methods give more pleasant results than pixel-based approaches. In this paper, a new algorithm is proposed to find the most suitable patch in order to fill in the damaged parts. This patch selection ...

An Efficient Algorithm for the Exemplar Based Image Inpainting

Image inpainting is the process of filling the missing portion of an image or removing an object from a image. In this paper we introduce a literature review of some latest exemplar based image inpainting techniques. The working of each method for inpainting is explained in brief. An overview of image inpainting is also given at the beginning. We have also proposed a novel exemplar based image ...

Exemplar based Image Inpainting with Reduced Search Region

Image inpainting is a technique to recover lost data or manually remove data from an image. This process is carried out in such a way that it seems reasonable to human eyes. The lost part of the image is filled with the remaining available data of the image. Inpainting can be done using various techniques, mainly variation based, exemplar based and wavelet based. In this paper, exemplar based i...
